What “investor-backed” means on Parity
An outside investor has money in this company, but we have not seen a source showing that the investor controls it. That is different from an investor-owned company, where a source shows the investor bought control. These companies are counted apart from the investor-owned total. If a source later shows control, this page will say so. If the owner shows us they still control the company, this page will say that too.
